E-readers are the future

After a rough night yesterday I just woke up an hour ago or so and no matter how I feel, I always check the news on my phone first before I crawl out of my bed. The first news subject I opened was the technical news, and there I read something about a comparison between e-readers and normal old fashion books. I know this isn't really important news, but surprisingly this kind of news always get the attention of my eyes first.

It started with a little intro, that we live in a digital time age and we prefer simplicity above tradition and old habits. I guess this is a pretty obvious statement but its true. What would you rather have, a bookcase full of books, where you have to search for like an hour for the books you wish to read, or a simple electronic display in the form of a book where you can simply search for the book you wish to read in a big book-database? I guess the answer for this question is also pretty obvious. Most of us would rather choose for the e-reader.

And this is what 36 percent of the 11-20 aged American citizens also think while 19 percent still use books (old, dusty, rusty and stinky books). 26 percent of the American citizens who are reached the age of 21 and further uses e-readers also while 19 percent doesn't. I guess this is the hard evidence that the books as we know them are going to get replaced by the simple and handy e-reader.

Maybe you don't like this, but I guess you like the money savings for the back-pain of your children, who don't have to carry 50 kilograms of books to school everyday but only 1 e-reader (and some chocolate also).

I got a Kindle its alright, the battery life is pretty good, but i prefer actually holding a book, i only have it because it was a gift and i dont trust e-buying. Plus, you cant show off your reading collection on a mobile device

I doubt real books will disappear, but yes, the e-reader is certainl the way to go.

Plus, since you don't have to deal with publishers and distributors, the end product is cheaper, or at least the writer gets a bigger cut.

And in the long run they're better for the woods :D

E-Readers are great. Nothing beats just reading a book though. Like Dalf says, if it's preferred by the writers then it's preferred by me!

I've been making my books available for e-readers. I hear it's a smart idea

There is nothing like the feel and smell of a new book in your hands. On the other hand, E readers save trees...I'm conflicted.

It depends on the type of book. Is it school work? Sure then. But if it's a legitimate book you're reading out of pleasure, it's best physical. No doubt.

Sad but true. Though I'll always prefer paper.

I also prefer paper, devices for reading e-book are still too expensive and you have to take extra care of them

Dunno. I still prefer real books. How they feel, how they smell... The older the better. :)

Agreed with above. there is something comforting about turning the pages and the smell. plus, if I drop my book on the floor, no big deal

Normal, regular books will deffinetly not go away yet ( can't call it completely, but it's staying for quite a while ). It's been around for thousands of years, and I think it's going to stick for atleast a few hundred more. Given the raise of concern for trees, and the technology advancement ( thousands of books can fit into an sd card ) it might be around the corner.

I read ebooks, but still prefer to read regular books and buy them. Both come in handy. Especially when you don't feel like carrying a big door stopping book around.
